We apply Human Factors (HF) methods and approaches to evaluate and optimise health technologies to support healthcare work and improve patient safety.
The Digital Health Human Factors Research Group is a part of听the听爆料王 Susan Wakil School of Nursing and Midwifery.
Our research seeks to understand and improve the interactions between users, health technologies and organisations using mixed-methods approaches.听For example: time and motion methodology, expert heuristic evaluations (usability analysis), usability testing, incident analysis, surveys, clinical audit, literature review, structured, semi-structured and open-ended interviews, focus groups, and structured and semi-structured observations.
We have expertise in the design, implementation and evaluation of a range of technologies and systems, including:
Professor Melissa Baysari leads the , a $3M national initiative focused on improving the design, implementation and evaluation of AI-enabled clinical decision support (CDS) systems.
The CRE aims to create a paradigm shift in the way AI-enabled CDS is designed, implemented, and evaluated, ensuring CDS systems are designed around the capabilities, limitations, needs and preferences of users.
Professor Baysari lead a multi-disciplinary team of experts in Human Factors and Ergonomics, CDS and AI and take a systems thinking approach to maximise the benefits and minimise the risks of AI-enabled CDS.
The Centre operates across three hubs: the 爆料王, Macquarie University and the University of the Sunshine Coast. Fellow Chief Investigators from the 爆料王 include Professor Sarah Hilmer and Professor Tom Snelling.
