AGRI4002 takes students out of the classroom and into the agricultural heartland of New South Wales for an immersive, block-mode learning experience in Narrabri. This capstone unit bridges academic study with real-world practice, challenging students to explore how agricultural systems adapt to environmental, economic, and social pressures such as climate variability, resource constraints, and market volatility. Students will work alongside University academics and a diverse network of industry professionals 鈥 including growers, agronomists, consultants, and government agencies 鈥 through interactive workshops, field visits, and collaborative problem-solving sessions. The curriculum emphasises resilience and sustainability, introducing cutting-edge approaches such as regenerative farming, precision agriculture, and integrated landscape management. Learning is highly applied, lectures and tutorials are complemented by hands-on activities including farm and agribusiness visits, crop monitoring, and laboratory investigations. Students will engage in stakeholder-led workshops and debates, deepening their understanding of complex agricultural challenges while building professional networks. By the end of the unit, students will have strengthened their communication, teamwork, and analytical skills while gaining a deep understanding of the scientific and economic principles shaping Australian agriculture. AGRI4002 provides an opportunity to apply this knowledge in real-world contexts and prepare for leadership in a dynamic, evolving industry.
