2026 unit information

The unit will focus on collaborative composition and collective artistry for sound design including network music performance. This unit specialisation will encourage students to work in groups to gain insight in curating sound-based projects addressing issues in cultural and environmental sustainability. Students will integrate their individual skills and expertise as composers, producers, and sound designers to contribute to a collective artistic vision within a diverse and evolving global creative landscape. Students will experiment with new technologies and techniques together to push the boundaries of collective artistry and network-based digital music composition, with an emphasis on effective collaboration workflow and communication skills.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. Compose and produce music that is suitable for diverse electroacoustic media using sector best-practice in their portfolio diffusion and communication.
  • LO2. Demonstrate a specialised aesthetic, presenting a coherent artistic identity and personal brand.
  • LO3. Situate creative practice within musical sources and methodologies relevant to their professionally-oriented musical project.
  • LO4. Demonstrate collaborative and communication skills in the implemention of an effective feedback loop, publicly presenting their projects and iterating in response to professional feedback.
