CPNO1602: Collaborative Piano 2

This unit builds on the skills developed in CPNO1601. Each student will be assigned to a vocal studio and play for weekly voice lessons, continue to explore art song and instrumental sonata repertoire, and prepare a performance with SCM students at the end of the semester. Students will also undertake piano ensemble project and work towards two workshops focusing on operatic arias and orchestral reductions.

Learning outcomes

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

LO1. provide and receive constructive feedback on performances in a professional and respectful manner
LO2. demonstrate an understanding of different musical styles and apply appropriate performance techniques for each genre
LO3. develop effective verbal and non-verbal communication with fellow musicians during rehearsals and performances
LO4. perform confidently as a collaborative pianist in a variety of musical contexts, including both vocal and instrumental repertoire
LO5. prepare for and perform in weekly vocal lessons as a collaborative pianist, under the guidance of staff members from the Vocal Unit
