GLOH5301 Independent Global Health Project is a 6-credit point unit undertaken in the final semester of the Master of Global Health. The Independent Global Health Project provides students with an opportunity to integrate and apply the knowledge and skills developed throughout their degree to a substantial project addressing a contemporary global health challenge. The unit is designed to provide flexibility in how students demonstrate their learning while maintaining a common set of learning outcomes and assessment requirements. Students will complete a Independent Global Health project organised across two broad pathways. The Practice-Based Pathway includes on-site (Semester 1 only) or remote placement projects that involve working with an external organisation to produce an output that meets their current strategic aims. The Writing and Development Pathway includes various projects that involve developing a substantial written, analytical, research, policy, or advocacy output. Students indicate their preferred project pathways and will be allocated projects by the unit coordinators based on student preferences, prior experience, and partner / project requirements. There is no minimum WAM requirement for enrolment in the capstone unit. However, individual projects may require particular prior experience, methodological competency as demonstrated in a core unit, or completion of specific core or elective units of study.
