The studio explores emerging possibilities in interaction design through a research-informed, design-led approach to creative innovation. Centred around one or more major design projects, the studio engages students in specialised areas of study supported by lectures, workshops, and critical discussions that introduce relevant theories, concepts, methods, and design precedents. The thematic focus of the studio may vary from semester to semester, spanning contexts such as wearable technologies, interactive installations, responsive environments, digital experiences, and emerging forms of human-technology interaction. These themes reflect contemporary issues and debates across interaction design, art, culture, society, and technology. Through a human-centred and experimental design process, students will develop both conceptual, critical, and creative capabilities in interaction design. The studio emphasises research-led inquiry, design thinking, experimentation, and iterative prototyping, encouraging students to explore, test, and refine interactive experiences in response to complex design challenges. Students will apply appropriate interaction design methodologies and processes throughout the development of innovative and meaningful design outcomes.
