The job market you are entering is being reshaped by data and artificial intelligence faster than most organisations can adapt. That gap, between what AI and data systems can now do, and what managers know how to do with them, is where your opportunity lies. Employers are not primarily looking for people who can build models or write code. They are looking for managers who can ask the right questions of data, critically evaluate what AI systems tell them, make sound decisions under uncertainty, and take responsibility for outcomes. These are judgement skills, not technical skills, and they are in short supply. This unit is designed around that reality. Every topic, every assessment, and every case discussion is oriented toward one question: what does a capable manager need to know and be able to do in an organisation that runs on data and AI? Taking a business rather than a technology perspective, this unit covers the enterprise ecosystem in the context of strategic and operational analytics and decision-making. Topics include innovation through advanced analytics, data-driven performance management, strategic business improvement, automated decision making, and the management of complex BI and analytics initiatives. The unit also addresses the governance, ethical and regulatory dimensions of data and AI use; competencies that have become essential as organisations rely more heavily on automated decision support. The unit also offers hands-on experience using a commercial analytics platform, combined with in-depth analytical skills development, with a strong focus on data storytelling, AI literacy, and AI auditing. By the time you complete this unit you will be able to walk into any organisation, in financial services, healthcare, government, retail, professional services, and contribute immediately to the conversations that matter most: how do we use our data better, how do we govern AI responsibly, how do we make better decisions faster, and how do we build the capability to sustain that advantage over time. That is not a narrow skillset. It is one of the most transferable and durable things a postgraduate management qualification can give you.
