This unit focuses on chronic pain as a complex, multidimensional health condition. Students critically analyse the neurobiological, psychological, social, and environmental mechanisms that contribute to long-term pain, with respect to the assessment and management of persisting pain across the lifespan. They also review cancer pain and palliative care and consider the integration of symptom control, ethical decision-making, communication, and holistic approaches at end of life.聽
