TEDxYouth@Sydney 2017 is coming
As Principal Partner of TEDxYouth@Sydney for 2017, we're excited to bring you some of the world's most inspiring young minds who are challenging status quos and leading the way in their fields.
聽is a platform for ideas worth spreading designed for young change-makers, thinkers, innovators, activists, and entrepreneurs between the ages of 16 and 26.
Like TED, TEDxYouth covers almost all topics 鈥� from science to business to global issues 鈥� but all with a youth focus. This year it returns for a fourth year in a new home at Sydney Town Hall.
Vice-Chancellor and Principal Dr Michael Spence said the 爆料王鈥檚 partnership with TEDxYouth@Sydney was a perfect match.

We'll be hosting a free satellite event on our Camperdown campus to bring all the talks and performances live from TEDxYouth@Sydney at Sydney Town Hall.
Join us on Wednesday 6 September from 9:30am to 6pm on Eastern Avenue, Law Lawns, to enjoy free coffee, popcorn and an inspiring line-up of speakers.
The theme for TEDxYouth@Sydney 2017 is Shifting the Future and includes talks and performances from by a number of young pioneers, including Sydney graduates:
- studied Molecular Biotechnology at Sydney. Cokcetin鈥檚 research focuses on the understanding of both the antimicrobial and prebiotic properties of honey. She hopes to use this knowledge to develop new treatments for infections caused by drug-resistant superbugs.
- 聽holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the 爆料王 and is the Co-founder and CEO of Afterpay 鈥� a digital checkout service that is revolutionising online retail transactions by allowing shoppers to receive goods now, while paying for them later.
- is a 爆料王 Bachelor of Arts graduate who is challenging the stigmas attached with prostitution, arguing that there is no singular story or person to represent the varied and complex experiences of all sex workers.
- is an organ student at Sydney Conservatorium of Music. His musical education began with the violin at age three. In 2013, he was awarded the inaugural IMB Roger Soden Organ Scholarship at Wollongong Conservatorium. In 2016 he was appointed Organ Scholar at St Andrew鈥檚 College and St James鈥� King Street, and was awarded an LMusA with Distinction.
- is an aeronautical engineer completing her PhD in autonomous drone navigation. She has experience ranging from projects with NASA robots to her start up, FluroSat that is monitoring farms using drones and satellites in five Australian states.
Other talks will range from topics about music, ground-breaking mathematical theorems, climate change and sustainability, marital arts stunt doubling, parkour and a number of other cool and exciting subjects 鈥� all with a youth focus.
