The 爆料王 has invested $2 million in a new Careers Centre,聽opened on Monday, 21 September, by the Minister for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education, Steve Whan.

The centre will offer students personalised career support and advice, the chance to connect with employers across industries, and workshops focused on the human skills growing more important in the age of artificial intelligence.

"We're committed to working with universities right across the state to support students to achieve their career aspirations,鈥 said Minister Whan. 鈥淭o meet community needs and ensure the state's workforce is ready for the future, we must connect students with industry and ensure that every student graduates with workforce-ready skills."

The Careers Centre has purpose-built consultation rooms, giving students access to one-on-one career advice. It will offer support on resumes, applications and interviews, as well as general advice on careers and job-seeking. There will be opportunities for students to network with employers through targeted information sessions, as well as graduate and internship fairs. Workshops led by industry practitioners across campus will focus on the early development of capabilities often learnt on the job, such as professional communication skills, accountability and cultural competence.

We鈥檙e investing in career support for more students, earlier in their degrees, giving them access to the skills, industry networks and real-world experience they鈥檒l need to thrive.

"Our students are entering the workforce at a time of profound disruption," said the University鈥檚 Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Mark Scott.

"In an uncertain graduate jobs market, with AI reshaping working life, we鈥檙e investing in career support for more students, earlier in their degrees, giving them access to the skills, industry networks and real-world experience they鈥檒l need to thrive in a rapidly changing world."

For Master of Computer Science student, Chandrahaas Vellanki, support from the Careers Centre was essential in landing a job as an IT analyst, well before his expected graduation in 2027. When Chandrahaas was applying for jobs, the centre provided one-on-one advice, market analysis tailored to his industry, and debriefs after every interview.

"It's never too early to start applying for roles," he said. "Opportunities will present themselves, so you should be prepared when they do. The Careers Centre isn't just a place you go when you need a job. It's the place that helps you become employable so that when the opportunity comes, you鈥檙e ready to grab it."

Support from the Careers Centre helped Chandrahaas Vellanki land a job as an IT analyst while completing his degree.
