Development of a model for predicting thermal pleasure
For example, the refreshing sensation of entering a cool room from the outdoor heat,聽or the coziness of holding a warm cup of coffee on a cold day. This study may help improve the way we operate and condition indoor environments.
Taking part in this study will involve聽exposures to moderate thermal environments (16掳C, 22掳C, 26掳C, 30掳C, or 33掳C) in a temperature-controlled room.聽We will measure your thermal physiological response and ask you to complete a questionnaire.
Each experiment will take approximately 4 hours, including preparation time. There will be five experimental sessions, so the total time commitment is 20 hours (4 hours/each * 5 days).

Eligibility
We are seeking participants who
- are healthy individuals aged 18 to 65,聽
- can read and speak English, and
- are able to visit the climate chamber.聽
The exclusion criteria are聽
- individuals who currently use illicit drugs,
- individuals with disorders that may affect thermoregulation (e.g., heart disease, respiratory disorders) or聽
- individuals who cannot avoid alcohol or caffeine 12 hours before the tests.
