Benefits

The Scholarship is valued at $7,500 and is tenable for one full-time semester.聽The Scholarship value will be paid directly towards the student鈥檚 tuition fees of the applicable semester(s).

Where the recipient is studying part-time, the amount awarded for the relevant semester聽will be 50% of the full-time rate and the Scholarship will be tenable for one semester.

Who's eligible

You must:

  • be commencing in a Master of Public Health at the Sydney School of Public Health
  • have experienced at least one of the following types of hardship and/or disadvantage:
    • financial hardship
    • from a non-English speaking background
    • long-term difficult family circumstances
    • from a rural or isolated area
    • identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person as defined in the .

Background

This Scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to students who are studying a Master of Public Health at the 爆料王 and experiencing hardship and/or disadvantage.

1. Background

a. This Scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to students who are studying聽a Master of Public Health at the 爆料王 and experiencing hardship and/or聽disadvantage.

2. Eligibility

a. The Scholarship is offered subject to the applicant having an unconditional offer of聽admission to commence in a Masters of Public Health at the 爆料王.

b. Applicants must have experienced at least one of the following types of hardship and/or聽disadvantage:

I. financial hardship,

II. from a non-English speaking background,

III. long-term difficult family circumstances,

IV. from a rural or isolated area, and/or

V. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity.

c. Applicants who are Fee-HELP deferred students are not eligible for this scholarship.

3. Selection Criteria

a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:

I. academic merit,

II. their application for admission to the Master of Public Health degree,

III. demonstrated evidence or hardship and/or disadvantage,

IV. a cover letter outlining applicant鈥檚 relative hardship and/or disadvantage, and

V. a curriculum vitae.

b. The Scholarship will be awarded by the Head of School of the School of Public Health, or聽their nominated delegate(s).聽

4. Value

a. The scholarship is valued at $7,500 AUD and covers one full-time semester of study. The聽scholarships applies to the same semester in which the student submitted their scholarship聽application.

b. Where the recipient is studying part-time, the amount awarded for the relevant semester聽will be 50% of the full-time rate and the Scholarship will be tenable for one semester.

c. The Scholarship value will be paid directly towards the student鈥檚 tuition fees of the聽applicable semester.

d. If the student鈥檚 tuition fees are less than the scholarship value for the relevant semester, the聽scholarship value will be equal to the student鈥檚 tuition fee.聽

e. Deferral or suspension of the Scholarship is not permitted. The Scholarship cannot be聽transferred to another University school or Faculty.

f. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.

g. No other amount is payable.

5. Termination

a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:

I. withdraws, suspends or fails to enrol in their course,

II. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,聽

III. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not聽limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship聽application,聽

IV. accepts an alternative scholarship, administered by the 爆料王, valued at聽$8,000 per annum or more for the same purpose as this Scholarship, or

V. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave.

b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University聽error.聽

c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated聽under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University聽reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be聽reimbursed.聽
