The ±¬ÁÏÍõ has invested heavily in research capacity across the full spectrum of the sciences, and many of our fellows have used the opportunities within their fellowships to catapult their careers into research leadership roles on the national and international scene.
From anÌýisland field stationÌýon the Great Barrier Reef, toÌýnanoscience laboratories, our scientists have access to world-leading facilities and equipment.Ìý
Our research centresÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýcore research facilitiesÌýoffer collaborative spaces, a critical mass of researchers, and the very best research tools available.Ìý
The ±¬ÁÏÍõ is equipped with one of the best microscopy units in the Southern Hemisphere – allowing us to measure coral reefs at unprecedented scale. We are developing a far better understanding of the impact of climate change on the skeletal structure and porosity across different species of coral – which provides valuable insights for future mitigation and adaptation efforts.
2024 Sydney Horizon Fellow and 2022 ARC DECRA Fellow
Accurately simulating molecules and chemical interactions is a major challenge for conventional computing. By developing quantum technology capable of simulating these, we will be able to solve one of the major challenges facing chemistry today – improving drug discovery and changing how we understand and treat disease.
2024 Sydney Horizon Fellow and 2022 ARC Future Fellow
