1

Get those Z鈥檚!

Although it may be tempting to pull an all-nighter before the big exam, that sleep deprivation lowers our ability to focus and sustain attention for long periods of time.

Form healthy habits early in the semester by ensuring you get of sleep every night. Better still, and wake-up at the same time every morning.

2

Set SMART goals

Remember all those New Year鈥檚 resolutions you never kept? Yep, we鈥檙e guilty of it too. A聽聽is being overly ambitious and general.

Instead of setting general goals such as 鈥渓ift academic performance鈥, use the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goal method to create clear and achievable goals you鈥檒l actually stick to.

3

Space out your study

Cramming for an exam may seem effective, but聽聽it isn鈥檛 a sustainable study technique. Basically, as quickly as you learnt that information, you鈥檒l also forget it.聽

The 鈥渟pacing effect鈥 鈥 revising for shorter periods of time over days, weeks and months 鈥 gives your brain the opportunity to create and strengthen neural pathways. In effect, you鈥檒l be able to retain information for longer periods of time.

4

Take advantage of academic support
