SEI announces applications open for collaborative funding schemes

1 September 2022
The Sydney Environment Institute is inviting applications for the 2023 Collaborative Grants Scheme, which includes fellowships and seed funding to develop multidisciplinary research projects on core environmental issues.

Following the success of the聽first year of SEI Collaborative Fellowships, we are excited to invite applications for the 2023 Collaborative Grants Scheme.

As part of SEI鈥檚 mission to extend and amplify the scope of the engagement on environmental issues by bringing together expertise from across disciplines, this scheme offers support for researchers across the University to develop new, collaborative, multidisciplinary projects.

The Collaborative Grants Scheme has two components:

1. Collaborative Fellowships: funds for a 20% secondment (teaching relief) to the School/Faculty of the successful applicants.

2. Collaborative Seed Funding: up to $7,500 in seed funding for a multidisciplinary project.

We are looking for proposals to create sustainable, long-term areas of research and engagement that support SEI鈥檚 objectives.聽Grants will be offered primarily in pairs, in order to encourage multidisciplinary research engagement and collaboration. Single applicants welcome, but such project proposals must focus on building on existing multidisciplinary initiatives and/or involve a multidisciplinary team.

Applications must explore multidisciplinary approaches to a core research question aligned with SEI鈥檚聽strategy and foci, and should consider ways to make links between faculty and聽SEI research strategies and priorities. Our research themes include:

  • Environmental Imaginaries and Storytelling
  • Biocultural Diversities
  • Environmental Justices
  • Transition and Transformation
  • Food Systems

Full details, including eligibility, section criteria and application details, may be found聽here.

Applications for funding for 2023 are due by聽Friday 7 October 2022.

Please direct any questions about the fellowship and/or application process to聽Emma Bones, SEI General Manager.
